Department of Criminal Law and Criminology

Department of Criminal Law and Criminology is currently admitting students in Masters and PhD degrees. Due to the urgent need for training specialised graduates in the area of criminal law, the Department has ever since its establishment tried to offer relevant degree programmes to postgraduate students, turning the LPS Faculty into one of the most, in some cases the most, renowned Iranian institutes in the area of Criminology.

To date, there are 9 full-time faculty members teaching and researching in the Department. The faculty members are offering the latest advances in such areas as criminal law, criminology, and children's and young adults' rights. To date, a total of 269 students have been graduated from this department.


Degree Programmes

Below, the programmes offered in Department of Criminal Law and Criminology are introduced and specified.

Master’s Degree Programmes

  • Criminal Law and Criminology: The Master's Degree Programme in Criminal Law and Criminology aims at preparing students and researchers for the market. Highly trained in crime and its various aspects, the Masters graduates in Criminal Law and Criminology should be qualified for such posts as police, courts, prisons, ministries, and other posts dealing with criminals. The high quality of teachings in the Department has been a reliable guarantee for the employability of graduates in the market. The MA Programme in Criminal Law and Criminology in Allameh Tabataba'i University lasts for 2 years and students attend classes for a maximum of 16 weeks.
  • Criminal Law and Children: Due to their special physical and mental states, children and young adults need to be dealt with differently. The Master's Degree Programme in Criminal Law and Children was established to respond to the needs of these critical age groups. The high quality of teachings in the Department has been a reliable guarantee for the employability of graduates in the market. The MA Programme in Criminal Law and Children in Allameh Tabataba'i University lasts for 2 years and students attend classes for a maximum of 16 weeks.

PhD Degree Programme

  • Criminal Law and Criminology: The PhD degree programme in Criminal Law and Criminology is offered in Allameh Tabataba'i University for a period of 4 years, equalling 8 semesters.
